Privacy Policy

Who runs this site and how to contact us

This Privacy Policy explains how information is handled when you use Enlighten IT, including its digital marketing and SEO guidance and free on-page SEO readiness checker. Privacy questions and requests concerning information associated with the site can be sent to the Enlighten IT Editors at info@enlightenit.co.

You do not need an account simply to read the site's editorial material or run the basic public-URL checker. Information can nevertheless be generated when a website is visited, and additional information is received when you choose to email us or use an optional feature that asks for details.

Information we collect

Web servers can record technical information needed to deliver and protect a website. This may include an IP address, requested page, date and time, browser or device information and basic request data. Cookies and similar technologies may also store or read information when analytics, advertising or other website functions are active.

If you email us, we receive your email address, message and information you voluntarily include. The site also offers an optional service for emailing a copy of SEO check results. If you choose that feature, information collected can include your name, email address, the URL checked, consent preferences and submission date.

SEO report email and consent

Where you request an emailed SEO report, the contact information is used to send the requested report. If a separate marketing option is presented, occasional SEO tips are sent only where you explicitly opt in. The current policy identifies consent as the basis for that optional marketing use.

You may withdraw marketing consent using the unsubscribe mechanism provided with marketing messages or by contacting info@enlightenit.co. Withdrawing marketing consent does not prevent the handling needed to respond to a separate enquiry or deliver a report that you specifically request.

Analytics

When analytics are active, Enlighten IT uses Google Analytics or similar analytics services to understand website traffic in aggregate. Analytics can provide information such as pages visited, time on the site, browser characteristics and approximate geographic information. If no analytics service is configured or active, that analytics collection does not occur through that service.

Analytics providers may process technical identifiers and usage information under their own systems and policies. Our purpose in using analytics is to understand patterns of website activity and improve how SEO guidance and tools are presented, rather than require readers to identify themselves before accessing editorial content.

Advertising

When active, Google AdSense may display advertisements on some Enlighten IT pages, and other advertising partners may also show adverts. Advertising services may use cookies or similar technologies to deliver adverts, measure performance and, where permitted, personalise advertising using information about visits to this and other websites.

Readers can manage advertising personalisation through Google Ads Settings and may use controls supplied by advertising services, browsers or devices to limit personalised advertising where available. Advertising technology is separate from Enlighten IT's editorial process and from the diagnostic result produced by the on-page checker.

Cookies and browser controls

Cookies are small pieces of data stored through a browser. On Enlighten IT they may support analytics, advertising, measurement, preferences or reliable website operation when the relevant services are active. Third-party services may place their own cookies when their features are enabled.

You can use browser settings to view, block or delete cookies. Disabling cookies may reduce information available to analytics or advertising services and can affect functions that depend on them. Browser controls vary, so use the privacy and cookie settings supplied by your browser or device.

How information is used, shared and retained

Information may be used to operate and protect Enlighten IT, provide requested SEO reports, understand aggregate traffic, respond to messages, investigate corrections or privacy requests and support advertising where applicable. Relevant information may be processed by providers supplying hosting, analytics, advertising or communications functions, or disclosed where required by law or a valid legal request.

We do not sell or rent personal information for another party's own marketing. Our aim is not to retain information longer than reasonably necessary for its purpose. Email enquiry information is generally kept while needed for a response and appropriate follow-up; analytics, advertising and service providers may use different retention periods determined by their systems and settings.

International transfers

Providers used for hosting, analytics, advertising or communications may process information in countries other than the country from which a reader visits Enlighten IT. Google and other international providers may therefore process information outside the UK or another reader's home jurisdiction.

Where international transfers occur, the relevant provider may rely on contractual arrangements or other safeguards appropriate to its service and applicable law. Readers seeking details about a provider's international processing should consult the privacy information supplied by that provider.

Your privacy rights

Depending on where you live and which law applies, including UK GDPR and similar laws, you may have rights to request access, correct inaccurate information, request deletion where appropriate, object to certain processing and complain to a relevant data protection authority.

To exercise a privacy right concerning information handled through Enlighten IT, email info@enlightenit.co and explain your request. We may need enough information to understand the request and determine whether relevant information can reasonably be linked to you. Nothing here is intended to restrict rights provided by applicable law.

Children

Enlighten IT is a general SEO and digital marketing information site and is not directed at children under 13, or under 16 where local law requires that higher threshold. The site does not require children to create accounts to read its editorial material.

If you believe a child has provided personal information directly through an email or optional feature, contact us so the circumstances can be reviewed and appropriate action considered.

External links

Articles may contain links to third-party websites where relevant to SEO documentation, tools or a source being discussed. Once you follow an external link, the destination website controls its own information practices. Enlighten IT is not responsible for the privacy practices or content of those sites.

Before supplying personal information on another website, read that site's privacy information and terms. A reference from an Enlighten IT article does not make a third party's privacy practices part of this policy.

Changes to this policy

This policy may be updated when website practices, services or privacy requirements change. Changes will be reflected on this page so readers can consult the current version. Last updated: September 2026.

Material changes may affect how a feature or category of information is described here, so an older version should not be assumed to represent current practice indefinitely.
